Twisted Choppers Wide Wishbone Springer Front End Forks – Sportster 04-22 & Dyna 91-17

Built for the Weight of Modern Machines. Installing a set of wishbone springer forks on a rubber-mount Sportster (2004-2022) or Dyna (1991-2017) changes the entire attitude of the bike. But these are heavy, powerful machines—significantly heavier than the vintage rigid choppers these forks were originally designed for.

Don’t Risk It with Cheap Imports. Budget import springers are often made of mild steel and designed for lightweight bikes. Putting a cheap mild steel fork on a heavy Dyna or Rubber-Mount Sportster is a recipe for speed wobbles, flex, and structural failure. The Twisted Choppers Wide Wishbone Springer is engineered specifically to handle the weight, torque, and frame geometry of modern Harley chassis.

The Twisted Standard: USA-Made Custom Forks

In a market flooded with “modified” imports, it is vital to know exactly what you are paying for. Some brands claim “USA Made” while simply taking a cheap, mass-produced import springer, swapping out the front legs, and calling it their own. We believe you deserve better. We combine precision CNC machining with high-strength alloys to create custom forks that handle better, last longer, and keep you safe.

Precision CNC Machining – No Cast Import Cores

We do not use “donor” springers. With the exception of the springs and mounting hardware, we manufacture every single component of this front end in-house.

  • The “Cast” Test: Look closely at other brands. If you see rough textures, soft rounded edges, or visible mold seams on the trees or rockers, you are likely looking at a cast steel import core.
  • The Twisted Difference: We CNC machine the Triple Trees, Rockers, Axles, Spring Rods, and Neck Pins directly from solid 1018 Cold Rolled Steel blocks. This ensures crisp edges, zero porosity, and exact bearing tolerances that cast parts cannot match.
4130 Chromoly Legs & Through-Tree Design

The weak point on many springer forks is where the rear leg meets the lower triple tree. Often, these are simply “butt-welded,” relying entirely on the weld for strength. We eliminate this risk.

  • One-Piece Strength: Our rear legs are crafted from one continuous piece of 1-3/8″ OD 4130 Chromoly tubing that slides through the lower triple tree before being welded. This creates a mechanical lock with maximum shear strength.
  • Superior Material: We use 4130 aircraft-grade alloy for both the front (3/4″) and rear legs because it is lighter and stronger than standard mild steel, providing natural vibration dampening and superior fatigue resistance.
Ride Quality & Specific Fitment Engineering

Standard springer forks will not fit these bikes because the factory downtubes interfere with the rear legs. We solved this.

  • Classic Wishbone Styling: Features curved front legs inspired by vintage chopper aesthetics, adding a custom, nostalgic look to the front end.
  • Modified Tree Geometry: We machine the triple trees with specific offset and spacing to provide the necessary clearance for Sportster and Dyna frame downtubes, ensuring a bolt-on fit without frame modification.
  • Vibration Dampening: The top tree uses pinch bolts and is machined to accept OEM #56161-83A riser bushings (Not included). This isolates your hands from engine and road vibration.
  • Clean Setup: The bottom tree is machined to accept an internal fork stop plate, allowing for a hidden turning radius stop on compatible frames.
  • The “Wide” Stance: Designed for a “Wide” width, this front end offers the perfect aggressive stance—beefier than a narrow glide for maximum road presence.
Important Fitment Notes

This unit is specifically designed for 2004-2022 Sportster and 1991-2017 Dyna frames. It includes a 3/4″ axle. Note on Axles: Most models from 2008+ use 25mm bearings. You will likely need to use axle reducer bushings (to adapt your stock wheel to our 3/4″ axle) or swap your wheel bearings to 3/4″ I.D. Please see the Fitment Tab for exact details.

Physical Fitment Prerequisites
This springer is engineered specifically for the heavier frames and wider downtubes of modern Sportster and Dyna models. Your setup must meet these requirements:
  • Frame Type: Rubber Mount Sportster OR Dyna Glide.
  • Neck Stem Diameter: 1.00" (Standard Harley-Davidson).
  • Axle Configuration: Includes a 3/4" Diameter Axle. (See "Axle Solutions" below).
  • Wheel Hub Width: Designed for Wide Glide width (approx. 6-1/2"). Stock "Narrow Glide" wheels will require significant spacing.
Verified Model Fitment (Green Zone)
These models feature the correct frame geometry to accept this springer. The triple trees are custom-machined with specific offsets to clear the frame downtubes.
  • Harley-Davidson Sportster (2004–2022)
    • Models: Fits all Rubber Mount XL models (Iron 883, 1200, Nightster, Forty-Eight, Roadster, Custom).
    • Axle Solutions (For 25mm/1" Stock Wheels):
      • Option A (Easiest): Use Axle Reducer Bushings (sold separately). These slip into your stock 25mm or 1" bearings to size them down to the springer's 3/4" axle.
      • Option B (Professional): Press out stock bearings and install 3/4" I.D. sealed wheel bearings.
  • Harley-Davidson Dyna (1991–2017)
    • Models: Fits all FXD, FXDL, FXDWG, FXDB (Street Bob), and FXDC models.
    • Axle Solutions:
      • 1991–2003: Direct fit (Stock axle is already 3/4").
      • 2004–2017: Stock axle is 1" or 25mm. Use Axle Reducer Bushings to adapt your stock wheel to the springer's 3/4" axle without changing bearings.
Important Installation Notes (Yellow Zone)
While the springer bolts to the frame neck, the following components often require customization:
  • Wheel Spacers: Most Sportsters and Dynas (except Wide Glide FXDWG) come with "Narrow" or "Mid-Glide" hubs. This springer is "Wide Glide" width. You will need to fabricate or purchase wide wheel spacers to center your wheel.
  • ABS Models (2014+ Sportster / 2012+ Dyna): The stock ABS wheel sensor is designed for 25mm axles. It will NOT fit the 3/4" springer axle. You must delete ABS or engineer a custom sensor mount.
  • Steering Stops: The lower tree is machined for an internal stop kit (sold separately). Factory frame tabs may not align perfectly and often require modification.
Not Recommended / Excluded (Red Zone)
This specific product SKU is tailored for the geometry of the models listed above. It is NOT compatible with:
  • Rigid Mount Sportsters (1957–2003): Incorrect geometry. Use the "Standard/Universal" version of this springer.
  • Softail Models (All Years): Incorrect geometry. Use the "Standard/Universal" version of this springer.
  • Touring Models (Road King, FLT, Electra Glide): "Reversed Triple Tree" geometry makes this unsafe for Touring frames.
  • Sportster S / Nightster (2022–Present): Revolution Max liquid-cooled frames are incompatible.
