Twisted Choppers Wide Springer Front End – USA Made Custom Forks

Don’t Compromise on Safety. Stop settling for mass-produced, imported mild steel front ends that compromise your ride quality and safety. The Twisted Choppers Wide Springer is 100% built in South Dakota for the builder who demands the best. We combine precision CNC machining with high-strength alloys to create custom forks that handle better, last longer, and keep you safe.

The Twisted Standard: 100% Manufactured in South Dakota. In a market flooded with “modified” imports, it is vital to know exactly what you are paying for. Some brands claim “USA Made” while simply taking a cheap, mass-produced import springer, swapping out the front legs, and calling it their own. We believe you deserve better.

Precision CNC Machining – No Cast Import Cores

We do not use “donor” springers. With the exception of the springs and mounting hardware, we manufacture every single component of this front end in-house.

  • The “Cast” Test: Look closely at other brands. If you see rough textures, soft rounded edges, or visible mold seams on the trees or rockers, you are likely looking at a cast steel import core.
  • The Twisted Difference: We CNC machine the Triple Trees, Rockers, Axles, Spring Rods, and Neck Pins directly from solid 1018 Cold Rolled Steel blocks. This ensures crisp edges, zero porosity, and exact bearing tolerances that cast parts cannot match.
4130 Chromoly Legs & Through-Tree Design

The weak point on many springer forks is where the rear leg meets the lower triple tree. Often, these are simply “butt-welded,” relying entirely on the weld for strength. We eliminate this risk.

  • One-Piece Strength: Our rear legs are crafted from one continuous piece of 1-3/8″ OD 4130 Chromoly tubing that slides through the lower triple tree before being welded. This creates a mechanical lock with maximum shear strength.
  • Superior Material: We use 4130 aircraft-grade alloy for both the front (3/4″) and rear legs because it is lighter and stronger than standard mild steel, providing natural vibration dampening and superior fatigue resistance.
Ride Quality & Design Features

Unlike budget springers that force you to solid-mount your handlebars, our design focuses on rider comfort and clean lines.

  • Traditional Styling: Features straight front legs for a clean, classic chopper profile that complements any Bobber, Chopper, or custom build.
  • Vibration Dampening: The top tree uses pinch bolts and is machined to accept OEM #56161-83A riser bushings (Not included). This isolates your hands from engine and road vibration.
  • Clean Setup: The bottom tree is machined to accept an internal fork stop plate, allowing for a hidden turning radius stop on compatible frames.
  • The “Wide” Stance: Designed for a “Wide” width, this front end offers the perfect aggressive stance—beefier than a narrow glide for maximum road presence.
Important Fitment Notes

This is a custom application part designed for frames with a 1″ neck stem and standard Harley neck dimensions (Approx 7″ length). It includes a 3/4″ axle. Exclusions: This model will NOT fit 2004-2022 Rubber Mount Sportsters, 1991-2017 Dyna models, or Touring models (Road King/FLT). Please see the Fitment Tab for verified model compatibility.

Physical Fitment Prerequisites
This springer is a custom component. Regardless of model year, your frame must meet these physical requirements:
  • Neck Stem Diameter: 1.00" (Requires 1" I.D. Timken Tapered Bearings).
  • Neck Length: Approx. 7.00" (Standard Harley-Davidson headstock height, with neck cups installed where applicable).
  • Wheel Fitment: Designed for Wide Glide hubs. Includes a 3/4" axle.
Verified Model Fitment (Green Zone)
These models feature the correct frame geometry (rake, neck length, and bearing cup style) for a direct bolt-on installation.
  • Harley-Davidson Softail (1984–2017)
    • Evolution (1984–1999): Direct bolt-on. (Stock 3/4" axle fits factory wheels).
    • Twin Cam (2000–2017): Direct bolt-on.
    • ABS Note: Models with ABS (2012–2017) require an ABS bearing adapter or custom wheel spacers (stock ABS sensor will not fit the included 3/4" axle).
  • Harley-Davidson Sportster (1982–2003)
    • 1986–2003 (Evo Rigid Mount): Direct fit. Ideal for hardtail/chopper builds.
    • 1982–1985 (Ironhead): Direct fit (uses 1" bearings stock).
  • Harley-Davidson 4-Speed Big Twin (1949–1984)
    • FLH Electra Glide (Pre-1980): Fits standard Shovelhead/Panhead frames.
    • FX / FXE Super Glide: Direct fit.
Conditional Fitment & Retrofit (Yellow Zone)
These models can physically accept the springer, but require specific aftermarket adapters, conversion kits, or modifications.
  • Milwaukee-Eight Softail (2018–Present)
    • Fitment Status: Possible, but requires work. Frame neck is compatible (1"), but peripheral components are not.
    • Required Mods: 1) Wheel bearings must be swapped to 3/4" ID. 2) Custom steering stops must be fabricated (factory stops do not align). 3) Riser-integrated gauges (e.g., Street Bob) must be relocated.
  • Vintage Big Twin (1936–1948)
    • Fitment: Knucklehead/Early Panhead frames.
    • Requirement: Requires Neck Cup Conversion Kit (to convert from loose ball bearings to 1" Timken style).
  • Ironhead Sportster / K-Model (1952–1981)
    • Fitment: Requires Neck Cup Conversion Kit (sold separately).
    • 1952–1977: Originally 7/8" stem. Requires 7/8"-to-1" conversion cups.
    • 1978–1981: Originally 15/16" stem. Requires 15/16"-to-1" conversion cups.
Not Recommended / Excluded (Red Zone)
We advise against installing this springer on the following models due to dangerous geometry or severe physical interference.
  • Touring Models (1980–Present)
    • Models: FLT, FLHT, Road King, Street Glide, Road Glide.
    • The Issue: These frames use "Reversed Triple Trees" (fork tubes located behind the steering stem). Installing a standard springer creates a dangerous negative trail, leading to severe high-speed instability ("death wobble").
  • Dyna Models (1991–2017)
    • The Issue: Dyna frame downtubes flare out immediately below the neck. This interferes with the lower springer tree, drastically restricting the turning radius.
  • Rubber Mount Sportster (2004–2022)
    • The Issue: The frame downtubes flare out immediately below the neck, preventing the springer from turning without hitting the frame.
